Actually the tax act requires a 1099 if any single check is over $600 but a lot of contests do not comply. However the tax act say you the tax payer are obligated to report all income even if it's under $600. Not sure what box it goes in but I just got my 1099 from Grand Rapids so I'm sure my accountant will check it.
