Am now thinking what I'll do is hitch the grid extender to the bottom grid that is resting on the wing nuts. The extended grid will serve as my bottom cooking grid and will be about 3 or 4 inches above the water pans. I'll put another cooking grid on the top grid, with handles turned down as you explained. This will give me a top grid that's about 2 inches above the current top cooking grid. These two grids will be all I'll ever need at any one time. Gonna be nice to cook without having to clean up a water pan.
