I ordered the 18 1/2" kettle grid (with handles) today and it will take up to 10 days for delivery. This grid, as you suggested, is to use on top of the existing top grid, turned upside-down, in the manner you suggested. With the grid extender attached to the bottom grid, I believe the spacing will work out ok, but will need to get it all together and try it to know for sure. Anyway, I'll give you a report after I cook on it. In the meantime, good barbecuing to ya.
