I've used a few coolers that I didn't need to get back, including a soft-sided Eddie Bauer cooler that was pretty beat up, and a really cheap Dale Jr. cooler someone chucked at me from the back of a truck at Indy a few years back. I've also used the styrofoam shipping coolers quite a few times. I think it depends on how you pack it and how fast you get it there. I vacuum packed and froze everything, wrapped it in layers of newspaper, taped the coolers shut, and then boxed it again in a cardboard box. Then I get it there in 2 days, tops (UPS or USPS). So far, everything's still been frozen on arrival, even without the dry ice. But the last thing I shipped was about 20 pounds to a race team in Texas, and it was $75. So it wasn't cheap, but they were pretty happy.
