I've seen similar posts in the past and just can't wrap my arms around this - cooking for a DUI Checkpoint - not dissing the idea but just can't grip it. I've been a cop since 1974 (Administrator since 1989) and never fathomed a picnic before or after a Checkpoint.
Officers straggle in before the assignment (because most don't want to be there) and leave as early as possible (because most don't want to be there) or they've got a cuff-n-stuff and couldn't participate anyway.
