Spitjack problem, need advice

My Spitjack injector has developed a problem. The little bar that raises up to push the main shaft forward (thus squirting out a pre-dialed amount of injection)does not raise up far enough any more to engage the shaft. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a spring in there that needs replacing? Maybe just a good cleaning?
