other smoker brands?

Hi everyone I am new to BBQ, I just started cooking on a Weber Kettle this year and am having soooooo much fun. I'm anxious to try BBQ with a smoker but the price tag on the WSM is little more than I can lay out at the moment. Today on Craigslist there are listings for a Brinkman and Char Broil Smoker both for under $50. Are they even worth the money? Should i just wait until I can get the WSM.
