I checked with the secretary of state and the state
police in 2004. I got conflicting opinions.
Some said if the device is "mobile equipment" no
plates needed. Some said if it has a hitch and can be pulled
it is a "trailer" and needs plates (I don't think this is correct).
Some said if you haul anything with the equipment(smoker)
it is treated as a trailer. To be safe I would just title it
as a homemade trailer because there is no way to insure that all cops will call this consistently. js
