I know the good Doc doesn't need any backup, letter of reference, or back slapping. I can say this about the guy. The first time I met him was 2000, Nelsonville. The dirty rat ran me off from his new trailer, ranting something about driving all the way from Chicago, cooking, contest, turn in, etc. I left thinking what the @#$%. Then after the turn in was over, he actually came looking for me and invited me to his trailer. I sat and talked and enjoyed a beverage with him just like we were old friends. Over the next year I exchanged several emails with him. Cooked the Nelsonville contest the following year and got a second place finish in pork. I know I couldn't have done it with out his willingness to share what BBQ cooking contest are all about.
So I (still) tip my "Ohio State" hat to him
