We have a local public access channel and I'm looking for ideas to use to pitch the station manager. I am working on ideas like an elimination show resembling Survivor, where you start out with say, 20 teams and 1 or 2 would be voted off of the tour every episode. I'm also trying to develop an idea that becomes a mobile show that would go around to various contests and filming what goes into starting and running a competition BBQ Team. This would be mostly a behind the scenes look at what teams go through to compete and the related expenses involved in being "On the circuit". Kinda like "Ice Road Truckers" or "Deadliest Catch" Since I have to pitch the sponsors to help underwrite the production costs I'm trying to make it a 30 minute show that has 22 minutes of airtime after commercials. I know that it would be difficult to do a 30 minute show but I know what production costs to put together a 1 hour show and I just can't afford it at this time. My real question is - What would go into a BBQ Show that you haven't seen before, or what would be most interesting to see on the small screen. I don't have a budget for doing this yet so if you've got a great idea, please tell me and I will get a release sent to anybody if I use your ideas. There's no money involved, so if you are holding on to the the best TV show idea that you could imagine, you should keep that to pitch yourselves. I'm looking mostly for small ideas that I could put together 5 or 6 little ideas that could blend into one 22 minute episode.
