Rod makes a good point, if you can't beat em then join em. Maybe we will some day. Regardless of what was used, winning two in one weekend is a pretty nice "trophy" in itself, congrats!!!
My opinion on cookers...
There are 4 basic parts to BBQ; meat, flavoring, methods, and heat. I completely agree with everyone that knowing how to pick and trim meat, knowing what spices, injections, and sauces to use, and knowing the cooking methods have nothing to do with what cooker one uses. I just believe that there is a large gap when cooking on something that uses an electrical system to regulate the heat vs something that one continually needs to monitor and adjust. Its like baking a cake, how much more difficult would it be to bake a cake using a wood burning stove vs one that is in your kitchen and the temp is dead on during the entire bake?? How much easier is it to use the oven in your kitchen vs a smoker??
