It is ironic that a cook scored the entries so low. Frequently, posters complain about judges who are not cooks. They imply that only a cook is qualified to be a judge. While this is only one example, it appears that being a cook does not guarantee that one knows how to judge barbeque. Having judges numerous contest, I have found that the overwhelming majority of judges have great respect for the cooks, give the cooks the benefit of the doubt, and work hard to be fair to all the teams. I believe the numerous complaints about judges on this forum present an inaccurate perception of reality. Yet, the KCBS and its CBJs must continue to refine the process and address the reality or perception of problems in the judging tent.
