I see it different. There are a number of people who benefit from the folks who pay KCBS dues. How many times have I heard people say they would never participate in an unsanctioned event? Plenty. So, the dues paying members support the sanctioning body and carry the load for those others that do not. Now, how exactly is that fair? If you want to cook a KCBS sanctioned event because it is a level playing field and because you know no matter where in the country you travel, the rules will be EXACTLY the same, maybe you should consider supporting the organization that makes that happen.
This was my opinion long before I decided to volunteer my time as a board member. It will be my opinion long after I no longer participate in that capacity.
