The PNWBA (Pacific Northwest BBQ Association) based in Seattle does a good job in WA, OR, ID, MT, AB and BC. They started at the same time as KCBS and have basically the same rules and organization type without the paid staff. They do have something that KCBS should consider, instead of marking a number on the box, they give you bar code stickers along with the boxes and the computer handles the rest. at turn in the sticker is scanned and the computer spits out a number to put on the box for the judges and even the head judge has no clue who or what until the computer prints out after the scores are entered.
