I would say the majority would be regional. 2008 was not a good year competition wise as I only cooked two contests, an IBCA local contest and a KCBS in Colorado. Usually I cook around 14 contests that cover 4 - 5 states. I cook alone so I usually try to stay within 5 - 6 hour drive from the house. When you start to cook that many contests they tend to run concurrent with each other and you find yourself taking a lot of Fridays in a row off. Not many people have the kind of jobs that will allow that to happen. As well as jobs, there are also family obligations to endure on those weekends. No not all kids want to spend their 9th birthday in Lincoln Arkansas.
If you're chasing a TOY award these are things you need to consider.
