180 people in line at 9 am. 30+ iowa bbq society volunteers. 1000#s of pork, 130 Christmas trees, a van load of coats, 300+ hand made stocking caps, around 500 breakfasts(hot sandwiches), hot chocolate, 24 gallons of cider, cases and cases of candy, new toys, coloring books, cases and cases of chips, fresh and frozen bread, cakes, fresh salads, vegetable trays, fresh fruit, and more. the line was a block long for the better part of an hour. by 10am it was 99.9% gone, with only about 10 trees left. i've never seen anything like this, in 13 years. people/businesses just brought stuff in. little kids were taking sacks and sacks of stuff home. old guys had coats, and tubs and tubs of meat. the guy they see on tv all the time(cookies) was right in the middle of it. people were polite. it was a great morning, and i'm pretty sure none of us are going to forget what happened today.
