That is a question I have often wondered myself. With making charcoal all the white smoke is burned off,and at best a little blue remains so it seems to me that with wood a certain amount of white smoke, weather seen of or not is present with a wood fire or even when using wood chunks, and therefore leaves minute at best, amounts of creosote, alcohol and phenol on your food. I guess I should refrain from saying that if you use my charcoal you do not need to deal with either.
