i have the same thing with a couple ricks of hickory i bought in southeastern ks. i was just glad to find some seasoned hickory because i was running low and i unlike some others i like my hickory seasoned and not green when i cook with it. but anyway the wood boars had really went to town on a lot of it. pitched some, burned some in the fireplace and cleaned the rest up for some premo smoking wood. while splitting it i found some of the biggest boars i've seen. sometimes i hit my wood with a wire brush pretty good before i throw it in my firebox, works well to clean it up.
