As a casual competitor who operates on very modest hobby budget, I'll throw this in. We landed a sponsor and had a custom trailer built at the end of last season. As the economy got worse through the winter and sponsor had to back out, I realized I would have two options...own a beautiful trailer and not afford competitions or sell the trailer, scale down and get out to do what we love. We opted to scale down, buy a smaller cooker and live with a little less comfort to stay in the game. Unless things really get bad, we're planning to do the same number of comps as previous years.
