no need to flip the hog - but I have found on my off-set that I like to switch sides about 2/3 way through the cook. So I start with the hams by the fire box then turn the hog so that the shoulders face the firebox for the last 1/3 of the cook. But I cook at higher temps so this may not be needed for your hog.
that said I have a specila removeable grate that was built for just such an occasion. I wouldn't move the hog without some sort of grate or contraption!
