Long as they are tender and taste good it ain't necessary in my book. Sounds like you got them where you want them. They turn out pretty tender when you check 'em with the tongs like that....
For what it's worth I really don't pay much attention to how much the pull back. In fact I have 3 slabs on the can right now, one on one end has a few that have pulled back but not the other two slabs or the opposite end of the one that did....
