Just to add to this (neverending) discussion about brigs vs lump, last weekend I decided to smoke two butts, one in each WSM, one with regular Kingsford and one with Wicked Good weekend warrior lump to see if there really is a noticable taste difference in the two (same rubs, no injections).

After they were done, I had my neighbors and wife do a blind taste test (even used clamshells). The only difference was that they all agreed that the lump smoked butt had a little more of a smokey flavor, but not overpowering. No one had any negative comments about either. It was tough for me to taste even the smokey difference of the lump butt, since I'd been in the smoke all day. But both tasted fine without any significant flavor differences.

With all the talk about "chemical" flavor from the kingford, it was tough to honestly taste anything like that.
