I have previously owned a Cookshack and now have a Smokin Tex. Both seem to work about the same and are very similar in appearance and features. If you put a thermometer in either to track the cooker temperature, the swings above and below the set temp. will drive you crazy. In the end, product comes out fine. But, be very judicious with the amount of wood you use. A little goes a long way. I did a brisket in mine last week and it had been a while. I used cherry pellets (I also have an FE) and I used a little to many. It wasn't bad, but it could have been better with less smoke.
