Rubs or Mops...

I prefer to use dry rubs and serve sauces on the side. BBQ books always suggest the use of mops...but I never hear of anyone here using them. I would think a moping would ruin the "bark" we all so look forward to. Anyone out there use mops on their "Q"?? Just curious...
