They want to control the competition for dramatic purposes. You know, last minute twists like "but wait you'll have to slice that brisket with a pack of wolves chained up inches away from the table, and your apron on fire 3,2,1 GO! Plus they'll get a winner every time not just the highest finisher in that contest. Maybe they'll switch to at American Gladiators type format so Myron and Tuffy and Johnny can pound on a couple of new rookies every week.
