I guess Grandma would like to share it with all of you. It is a custard based recipe.

By Steve Marrs
Denver Cajun BBQ Krewe
Recipe copied from the personal notes from my grandmother,
Anna Myers (1900 – 1993)
Kansas, Illinois
This is a one-gallon mix.
½ C. corn syrup
4 C. whole milk
½ C flour (mix with part of the milk)
1 C. sugar
6 fresh eggs (beaten)
Mix together and cook in a double boiler of heavy bottom pan whisking continuously. Bring to a very low simmer and cook until thick.
While still hot add:
2 C. sugar and stir in
2 C. half and half or heavy cream (or more)
8 tsp. Vanilla and mix batch well
Add milk to make 1 gallon of the mix total.
Chill thoroughly before adding to ice cream maker.
Do not fill container more than ¾ full (it will expand during freezing)
Follow directions for your ice cream maker.
Enjoy,
Steve
