I thought that KCBS was going to assign numbers to head cooks for a team? Although KCBS calls it the Team of the Year. It sure seems and or implied that it is the cook of the year. I am now seeing teams splitting up and cooking different events. I can only imagine that is for the TOY standings or the Kingsford Race?
while I don't blame teams from doing this, as it's not breaking any rules. (Unless the same team name cooks in 2 different contests the same day). When will this end? Will teams start paying for other teams to cook for them in contests so they can gain in the TOY race? These are all problems due in large part to the cash being rewarded at the end of the year.
Maybe the KCBS BOD needs to address this issue before it gets out of hand? Whether that be awarding the Cook of the Year instead of Team of the Year? Or not making the carrot so large (ie money) for teams to do these kinds of things?
So am I missing something on this subject? Or am I just too old school? It's becoming too cut-throat in my opinion. I want to beat someone's ass heads up, without me bending the rules. Well, I guess in my opinion that is what I am trying to do. I am sure someone will find a fault in what I do and how I go about doing it. I look at BBQ as golfers do. We should police ourselves and not allow any other influences affect the way that we should be playing the game.
So does anyone have any fixes, or should we just allow these issues to continue to spiral? Would love for ANY KCBS Director to add to this thread. I would love to be informed.
