On the program the gal said "the batter will look too thin but you find that it works". Should be like a thin pancake batter, not as thin as crepes, but not as thick as pancake batter, somewhere in between by the looks of it by my eye. And let most of the excess drip off. I also found putting a tin foil sheet on the transfer side from batter bowl to fryer keeps the mess from dripping on the side of the fryer and stove.
