some open minded people;) The thread Walt started Oct 5th got me thinking, again, about individual judge scores we have had in the past that made us scratch a hole in our proverbial heads. Everyone has seen them I'm sure. It doesn't usually kill an entry because the low entry is thrown out, but what if the super judge genius brought his brother or wife with him and they finagle a seat on the same table, then you may have two omnipotent bbq experts to "bust" an entry.
An example would be something like:
999 999 898 898 766 676
If that has never happened to you I hope it doesn't, it is infuriating.
My idea is this, the low judge is thrown out automatically, but if TWO judges score an entry 25% (or whatever) lower than the average of the other 4 they are both thrown out and the fifth score is equal to the lowest of the high four. Also both judges receive an unflattering correspondence about their JUDGMENT from KCBS and/or immediately from the table captain. Maybe the same software/cheat sheet could be used to INFORM any judge whom scores an entry 25% below the table average, which is a discrepancy I think anyone can agree is outside the range of what would be considered, "taste" or "opinion".
Hoot
PS I know Darcy, if I don't like my scores learn to cook better. Har har bang fist on table.
