This happened about five years ago at an unnamed contest here in Missouri. After hearing this comment, I made up my mind never to cook this particular contest again. This conversation was between two people, neither of them being CBJs.
The doors had not opened for the building that housed the judging area. I saw two people greet each each other and the man asked the lady what she was doing at the fair. She told the man that she was there to judge the BBQ contest. The man replied that he was not judging this year, but he had judged this contest in previous years. She asked the man for advice on judging. Here was his reply:
"Take really small bites and take home as much meat as you can."
Made me feel real good about someone evaluating my entries....
