Sam's corporate wants to see contests at their clubs. That is why they did the Midwest City contest in their club parking lot and not off property. This $400k investment is to generate activity at the clubs with the general public. This isn't about KCBS or the BBQ circuit. These are marketing dollars spent on "impressions". They care more about the tens of thousands going to their clubs on weekends rather than the 50 or so teams in the parking log. Twenty more contests across the country sounds pretty good to me. When you look at it from a corporate marketing perspective, their approach makes total sense.
