Wow! I have never been to the banquet, but have very much wanted to attend. I thought I might be able to swing it this year as an extension of my celebration for making Master Judge, but it was not meant to be. I don't know anything about these certificates and said horse-trading of same, but that's a simple fix. The food service, however, should be the one thing that should never be an issue, ESPECIALLY WHEN PROFESSIONAL COOKS & CATERERS ARE THE GUESTS! It's too bad that an organization as great as KCBS not only has had this happen to them/us, but it's worse when the same food shortage mistake happens more than once. If this banquet has been held at the same location, then the organizers need to not go to that venue. Heck, renting out the local legion hall and hiring KCBS cooks to cater the event would be better than teasing guests (paying guests at that) with prime rib only to have them end up with or boiled chicken or shaved beef (got any bread and gravy to make SOS?)
I really love KC and know there are a lot of options in and around that fine city. Here's to hoping that 2012 is the start of a new banquet with great success! KCBS has now made it to the big time and events need to be planned and executed similarly.
