It is a simple fix to this, that would make the night go much quicker.
Have the dinner on the table and ready to go when the cocktail hour ends. You sit down, eat, and the awards start. Cut almost an hour of fluff out. Serve a beef entree and allow the handful of dietary exceptions to be handled as such. Salad, entree, starch, roll, and dessert is plenty even for us BBQrs.
