Kansas City could have supported two contests and would have been sold out immediately. OP was one of first to sell out and there are KC cooks traveling out of state for the series, too.
Going to be fun. I like how this was put together as a series with a fairly level playing field. It isn't necessarily about the person with the deepest pockets. Other races like TOY, SOTW, Ranchers, Kingsford, etc are great, but they are won by folks who have the resources and time to cook whenever and whereever they pretty much want. With Sam's Club series, it is more inclusive to folks that can do three contests in a year.
Having said that, I've always thought that any TOY race is probably the most challenging things to achieve because of what you have to sacrifice to get there. You can't cook in a 50 mile radius and be a contender. You can't cook a half dozen or even a dozen contests. You have to travel and cook dozens of events at great expense and sacrifice to other important things in your life. Any TOY contender is deserving of respect for what they've acheived and set aside in their lives to be there.
