I've never done this before; but the other day I oven roasted ( no BBQ because my pit is blocked in the lower garage with about 5 feet of compacted snow) a beef round rump roast and I decided to use a brisket rub on it. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but it was great. I don't think I will ever cook a roast beef again without a rub. Here I thought a rub was only a BBQ thing, but it works great for indoor cooking as well. Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise...just sayin"!!
