If you heat it and follow canning procedures, it will keep indefinitely as long as it's sealed appropriately in a canning jar. I agree on the acidity factor. If you follow APL's full recipe from his Serious BBQ cookbook (including the apple bbq sauce recipe), then there should be sufficient acid (vinegar) in the recipe.
