I first will apologize for a less than positive post. But here goes. If Sam's Club is going to be a sponsor of a National Series then I suggest Sam's Club get behind it and give us competing cooks some backing and support. I stopped at my contest (Santa Fe) on the way down from Iowa to Southern New Mexico just to meet the Store Manager and the Meat Manager and to determine where it was we would be cooking. Nobody knew anything about the Series, but I was promised a call from the Store Manager. I am still waiting for that call. At a local, bigger Sam's Club in New Mexico I got no support for trying to find better contest meat. The position at that store was that I was going to have to choose from the picked over, slim pickings that would be in the daily display case. However, at the checkout lane they always want to upgrade my membership. Sam's Club has decided that 600 cooks in the nation deserve the right to cook in a contest to decide who is capable of winning a national title. I suggest that it wouldn't hurt for Sam's Club to give us cooks some reasonable support, and if we want, the opportunity to compete with competive meat bought from a Sam's Club. I for one can remember when I could win contests with Sam's Meats bought in the contest city or on the way to the contest. I would think it would be to Sam's benefit for that opportunity to return.
