For home use, a WSM will last decades if well cared for. The life span of a unit used in competition could have a significantly shorter life due mostly to the wear and tear that can occur from transporting the unit.

We use four WSMs when we compete and our current set is going into their third year of service and have well over 50 contests on them. Aside from a few cosmetic flaws, they still perform like new.
