It's not the skills, its the ATTITUDE. The skills are easy to learn and the judging ritual reinforces them before every contest. Judging will always be subjective and, as a result, there will always be complaints about it. In my four years of judging I've only met a handful of judges who didn't take their role seriously, who didn't understand scoring principles (or want to), and who seemed to have an agenda of their own. This would be some very tiny percentage.
