I answered the question >20%. A lot of the contests have judging classes the evening before to ensure they have 100% CBJ or as close as possible. A number of these contest hold open spaces for class participants to judge the next day. Several of those events then allow 1-2 per table for celebrity judges (Chief of Police/Firedepartment, city officials, etc). By now, you have 4-6 CBJ per table but you're lucky if you have three that have judged before.
What I would like to see is not the percentage of CBJs, but the average number of contests judged or the average number of years judging. Additionally, I would like to see the judging class spend some time reviewing turn-in box pictures. The boxes I've seen at judging classes are haphazard at best; understandably. Pix of boxes could be passed around at the tables where discussions could occur. This would help the new judges get an idea of where their thoughts and ideas fit in regards to the others at their table. No right or wrong answers, just honest discussions.
What do ya'll think?
