You know, we had some really nice looking thigh entries (you know, of the normal, average looking bird). I have seen some really sloppy entries on both sides of the coin and I have also seen teams get so caught up in the symmetry and perfect wrapping of a thigh, they can get eight to a box and forget about taste and tenderness. I have also seen absolutely great presentations with legs only (wait a minute, that was a couple of pole dancers I knew, never mind).
I guess my take on it is this - we as judges are taught, and it is reinforced before each contest, to judge each entry on its own merit - do not compare the entries before you or from past contests. Simply my two cents
