Ok, I am a noob when it comes to KCBS and how it runs, but I have a question.
First the facts as I know them:
KCBS is non-profit, I pay $35 a year for membership, Since December we have seen: A catalog(Some BBQ supply place) included in our December Bullsheet, A KCBS Credit card that we could sign up for ( I assume KCBS gets a portion from the credit card folks), Potato Salad added to contests because some company is sponsoring it, and Big Red is an "official sponsor"
I have to assume this is all about money, but as a Non-Profit, where does all this money go? Do the contests cost KCBS money? I appreciate that there are awards at the end of the year for the big teams, but is there any benefit to me, the little guy, that Big Red is now a sponsor of KCBS? Am I going to show up at a contest this year and be provided all the Big Red I can drink?
Trying not to be negative, but feeling a bit negative right now and just trying to see the benefits of "official sponsors". Even though I am still paying my money, all I have gotten so far is spam email and junkmail. What am I missing?
