Seasoning Wood Technique

Hello everyone. I have a half a cord of pecan being delivered. What is the best way to store it, so it is seasoned well? Covered with a tarp, covered but outside, ect.......and what is the optimum time for a piece of wood to be seasoned? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!
