Probably closer to 3/16" or 5/32".... Ha! Just pullin' your leg. Heck, I have no idea what the correct slice width is. That is something we've always just guessed at. Most of the time our slices ended up somewhere in between an eight and a quarter inch thick, similar to the width of a pencil. However, I think this is also regional. Seems like the folks down in Texas prefer their brisket sliced on the thicker side.
Me, on the other hand, I like my brisket slices near deli thin and piled high between two slices of soft Wonder bread with an ample amount of sauce poured over the top. But that's just me and that would never fly at a contest.
