In 09 we cooked on a Good One Rodeo - using 4 to 5 bags of lump charcoal per weekend comp, around $100. We switched to Superior SS'2s and burn 1-2 bags of briquettes per contest now, or around $20. With an $80 a contest savings, we save $1400 +/- last year, which nearly paid for one of the cookers.

The costs of meat is the biggest issue. I talked with my dad this weekend and as a beef farmer he's never seen prices higher. Mom's trying to convince him to sell the whole herd and be done with it, but he'd go nuts from the boredom. I'll probably cut down with a couple things, but still see costs being high and only getting higher
