Read who's winning and ask them if they're turning in anything with just salt, pepper and smoke. But if that's the flavor you think is best, turn it in and best of luck. We usually turn in what we like best because after those six servings, we have a lot of leftovers. Might as well like it.

If people think this tons-O-flavor added thing is something new, they're wrong.The team that mentored us in '93 had a glue with a couple liquid ingredients in it, a dry rub had at least ten ingredients in it (including MSG), their sauce was a concoction of two bottled sauces, one fruit juice, real butter, and they all used obligatory Parkay squeeze bottle. And they turned everything in wet. And they won. Tons. That extra flavor won then and it wins now because most judges and most people like it better than plain old salt, pepper and smoke.
