I agree with you. I have a 60D that we have competed on also for two full seasons, and has performed very well. We also do not cook in the upper chamber, but do have the damper that opens up fom the firebox, and can get that chamber to nearly 400 F if had to. It's an offset, so will require some tending, but we don't mind that at all. Once it hits temp, it stays and purrs. For the price, it is a good cooker.
