I don't really get why this is too much trouble or why you guys agree with Arlie's motion on this item.
Yes, I understand that the Jack and the Royal in theory are "big boys" and they should be able to take care of their own paperwork and who they issue invites to for their invitationals.
I guess I disagree with this motion on different grounds. If KCBS is to be the premiere organization for BBQ, doesn't it make sense that the KCBS office would be exactly the right place to track all of the state proclamations, track the size of first year contests, etc, etc, and perform this as a service for the Jack and the Royal?
Seems that the KCBS is well positioned to be able to administer the qualification criteria and possibly even keep a running list of teams that have qualified for the Jack Draw or qualified for the A/R Invitational on an area on their web site.
For all the whining that many do about communication from the KCBS, it is a fact that the web site is an excellent resource and it is 1000% better than what it was even 5 years ago in terms of quality, quantity, accuracy and timeliness of information.
KCBS has the largest full time office staff of any bbq organization on the planet, why would we want to just toss this task out the door, because it is a little inconvienient? Don't get that at all.
