You could always try the theatrical way.... get a container with dry ice, make some form of pipe/chimney, pour water over the dry ice, 'smoke' will appear through the chimney. The hotter the water, the more 'smoke' you will get. The 'smoke' will hover around the smoker, it is heavier than air so will sink to the lowest spot. Otherwise, rent a smoke machine, plug in, warm up, press the button. Lots of smoke, bit noisy tho, doesn't last too long either.
