I'm on Vince's forum as well and like the real name thing BUT also understand the security aspect especially when someone does a google search on your name. The thing is it's not all that hard to get results when searching a "handle" and then back searching to a name.
You can attempt to identify people by an IP address BUT 2 people can share one IP address temporarily just not transmitting at the same time. We've had it happen occasionally when 2 or more laptops or devices were running and even more when we were testing a new network.

The only for sure identifier is a MAC address which is not shown here, and then can be spoofed anyway with various apps on the 'net.

I don't think Ron's post was anything more than a question probably raised by the rumors about Vegas but certainly not to start a fight in my humble opinion.

The question I have is isn't attacking someone's question or assigning some nefarious agenda that is not apparent in the question just another form of suppression (banning) of questions you don't like?
IMO (for what it's worth) respectful disagreement is one thing but the other is just another way to attempt to shut people up or stop 'em from saying something you may not like which is inherently wrong in a free, open forum like this.
Off soap box...
